Program Description

EXPLORATION SUMMER SKATING & SKILL CAMP

July 27–31 | Ray Friel Arena- Pad 3
1:15–3:15 PM Daily
Age 12-14 y/o
Level: A–AA (Competitive)

This five-day camp is designed for athletes looking to expand their skating and puck skills while learning how to apply them in game situations. Players will explore new movement patterns, develop confidence handling the puck at speed, and practice making decisions under pressure.

Sessions are fast-paced and focused on skill execution, helping athletes translate individual skills into game-relevant situations.

This camp is open to both boys and girls and provides a positive, challenging environment for players looking to grow their game.

Development Approach

The Exploration pillar focuses on helping athletes discover and apply new skating and puck movement patterns within realistic game situations. Players are encouraged to experiment with skills, build confidence executing them at top speed, and learn how to recognize opportunities to use them during play.

Each session blends skill development with decision-making scenarios so athletes not only practice techniques but also understand when and why to apply them. Drills are adapted to the athletes on the ice to ensure players are constantly challenged while continuing to build confidence in their skill set.

ON-ICE TRAINING

Each session combines skating, puck control, and decision making at game pace. Drills focus on:

  • Advanced skating patterns and transitions

  • Puck control while skating at speed

  • Decision making in game scenarios

  • Executing skills under pressure

Small group instruction allows athletes to receive a high number of puck touches and consistent coaching feedback throughout each session.

Most camps cram 25+ kids on a sheet, hand a clipboard to a teenager, and call it development. Here’s how DB Hockey stacks up.
